Whit Balliett, LADC, LPC

Welcome

I am a therapist who understands the challenges of engaging in psychotherapy while recovering from any form of addiction.  Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.

You can take responsibility for your past acting out towards others while engaging in therapy that helps you to understand the roots of your disempowering beliefs and acting out towards others.

In 12-Step recovery fellowships shortcomings and character defects are defined as likely barriers to interacting with others in a healthy way.  Character defects develop through regular dependence on self-centered addictive behavior patterns, or pleasure seeking--sometimes at the expense of others.  Entering recovery reduces pursuing instinctual pleasures in excess of their proper function.   But shortcomings are perceptions and beliefs of unmet potential--falling short of meeting your needs, or other people's expectations.  As disempowering beliefs, they generally spring from various circumstances of childhood abuse or neglect.   Therapy for Recovery is designed for recovering individuals who are seeking emotional freedom and understanding--to give meaning and purpose to past acting out or immersion in conflictual relationships that sprung from childhood mistreatment or neglect.  Successful step-work helps promote forgiveness and prevent falling into self-pity and further self or other destructive behavior.   Therapy helps promote awareness and understanding that can lead to empowerment and freedom from uncomfortable emotions and self-doubt.  Paired together, therapy and step work can help you build an unshakable foundation for life.

As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
